Morris, Lendais, Hollrah & Snowden is a commercial practice law firm based in Houston, Texas, with additional offices in Paris, France. The firm provides a broad range of legal services to companies and individuals doing business domestically as well as to companies and individuals whose business activities are international in scope. AREAS OF PRACTICE Real Estate. We are particularly qualified to represent clients in U.S. real estate matters. We regularly monitor laws and regulations applicable only to non-residents, such as foreign reporting requirements, restrictions on real estate investments, farm reporting requirements and subsidies. We represent a large national title insurance company and have access to title information about real estate in most parts of the United States. Our experience ranges from assistance in the acquisition and development of major projects down to the purchase of private residences and raw land. Of particular importance to foreign and large domestic companies is our representation of relocation companies in all aspects of acquisition and disposition of properties on behalf of their clients. For several years the firm has had significant representation of builders and developers in all aspects of real estate projects. Such representation has included assisting the developer in the choice and organization of an appropriate development entity and negotiating equity, assisting in short term and long term debt financing, preparing and negotiating construction and professional contracts, preparing and negotiating leases and sale documents, and furnishing general ongoing legal advice. Many of our attorneys have had substantial experience in representing foreign clients doing business or seeking to do business in the United States. A number of our attorneys and support personnel are from foreign countries and many others are multilingual. We therefore understand and are ideally suited to handle the special needs of foreign companies and individuals attempting to do business and doing business in a legal environment that may be substantially different from the legal system with which they are most familiar. We also understand the peculiar complexities often involved in international business transactions. We can assist in ensuring compliance with U.S. and foreign tax and other reporting requirements for the international client, and can explain the impact of the Internal Revenue Code on domestic and international business transactions. Our attorneys are also familiar with import/export regulations, as well as with regulations concerning customs and foreign investment. General Business and Commercial. The firm has a strong and active litigation section that represents clients in a broad range of civil litigation, particularly in lawsuits involving contractual, real estate, commercial and insurance matters, in both state and federal courts, including the bankruptcy courts. Our litigation attorneys have successfully represented clients in the chemical industry involving breach of warranty and products liability claims regarding sales, storage and use of petro-chemical products and oil field tubular goods. We also represent clients involved in offshore drilling activities and in claims related to commercial and personal injury matters pertaining to such activities. We are a representative attorney for a national title insurance company and our litigation attorneys have been involved and represented our clients in a variety of real estate related litigation matters including, title disputes, deed restrictions interpretation, condemnation proceedings, mechanic lien procedures and environmental related claims and disputes. Our litigation attorneys have experience in service and discovery abroad, in dealing with international clients and claims, as well as in the conduct of multi-national lawsuits.
